AT A GLANCE

Demographic Perspectives helps clients make data-driven decisions. We provide tailored demographic, survey and market research services for higher education and nonprofit clients, for architects, real estate professionals, and for public agencies. Diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and belonging are addressed in all our work.

Our studies guide residential planning, master planning, strategic planning, and post-project assessments.

We design and conduct research and planning projects making use of interviews, focus groups, listening sessions, surveys, population analysis and modeling, benchmarking of comparable organizations, residential life, housing, and market studies.

RESIDENTIAL PLANNING

We have special expertise in conducting data-driven studies that guide residential planning, master planning and post-occupancy assessment at colleges and universities. Our analyses are used for short and long-term policy decisions, renovations and new construction. We address the policy and programming aspects of the facility as well as the student, faculty, and staff experience via housing, residential life, and dining.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION PROGRAMMING

DP helps organizations transform culture, improve diversity, navigate change and build community. We become an organization’s strategic planning partner with our unique passion for building more inclusive workplaces and a deep expertise in training, data analysis, and communicating to diverse audiences.

We support our clients in their efforts to address issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and how the climate of the organization influences individual and workplace experiences. We help by identifying the characteristics of inclusive cultures and by understanding the nuances of diversity, both internally and externally. Clarifying and evaluating attitudes and behaviors is critical for providing a healthy, comfortable, respectful, and productive campus or work environment. To create a welcoming and affirming environment with the right support structure for racial, ethnic, cultural, and gender identity, we need to listen to each other, share priorities and issues, and use this understanding to form the building blocks for a community.

DP can reinforce these DEI efforts with our training and seminars for Board members, senior administrators, staff, faculty and students; DEI strategic planning, Inclusivity Audits, and Climate Assessments, all of which are tailored to and focused on the specific issues and population on the campus or in the organization.

PROGRAM EVALUATION

By providing a program with feedback on its performance, we can focus on what and how a program is contributing to the learning and development of participants as a group and individually. Many organizations are required by their funders to evaluate their programs on a regular basis and we can assist. Our program assessments use empirical evidence to evaluate and identify gaps in learning outcomes, align the programs with best practices, and make informed decisions about curriculum, program effectiveness and success.
